¿Still There? AFK Screen
by Nickyouni
¿Still There? AFK Screen darkens the game with a blurred cinematic screen once a player has been away from the keyboard and mouse for a set period.
What it does
When the mod detects no keyboard or mouse input for a configurable time, five minutes by default, it opens a blurred screen and throttles the game to 10 FPS. The throttling lets the CPU and GPU rest, which lowers power draw and heat while the player is away. Pressing any key or clicking closes the screen and restores the original framerate at once.
The mod is client-side only, so only the player's game needs it and servers run without it. It requires Architectury API. Files are published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, covering 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, with 1.1.0 as the latest build for each loader. The code is under the MIT License and is not open source. Interface text is available in several languages, including Spanish, Portuguese, French, Russian and Chinese.
Key features
Smart activity detection
Keyboard and mouse activity is monitored continuously, so the mod knows when the player has stepped away.
Resource saving while away
The blurred screen caps the game at 10 FPS, reducing CPU and GPU load and the heat it produces.
Instant restoration
Any key press or click closes the screen and returns the game to its exact original framerate.
Configurable delay
The pausescreen-client.toml config file sets the number of minutes that elapse before the screen appears.

Use cases
Leaving a game running
A player who steps away during a long build or a render can leave the game open without keeping the GPU at full load.
Laptop and quiet setups
Players who care about battery life or fan noise on a laptop or a quiet desktop can let the screen take over during idle periods.
Who it’s for: Players who leave Minecraft running while away from the computer and want less power use and heat from the game in those moments.
