Spectrum is a colour-themed magic mod built around discovery, in which players combine sixteen colours and the resources they find to craft tools and machines.
What it does
Progress in Spectrum comes through a handcrafted revelation system rather than a fixed checklist. Advancements and an in-game guidebook hint at each step, and the guidebook is given to the player when they find their first geode. The goal is to uncover what lies beneath the bedrock floor that is normally impenetrable. Recipes, discoveries and notes are gathered in the guidebook as the player goes.
The mod adds magical equipment, items, blocks and decorations, along with new enchantments, potion effects and fluids that have full collision and their own effects. Ores, plants and geodes are new to the world, and custom crafting structures and puzzle-filled structures can be built by the player. Spectrum is not meant to be rushed, and it gives no hand-holding, so players need to experiment and explore.
Files exist for the range 1.18.1 – 1.21.1, with the latest Fabric and NeoForge builds targeting 1.21.1. Cloth Config API, Fabric API, Modonomicon, Patchouli, Revelationary and Trinkets are required, and Spectrum runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it. It is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only.
