Soul Siphon

by Negative_light Media

Soul Siphon lets players extract souls from trapped soul-block prisons using a modified Pointed Dripstone, then choose what to do with the freed souls.

What it does

Soul Siphon is a Magic mod that adds a modified Pointed Dripstone for drawing souls out of soul-block prisons. Some players release the freed souls, while others keep them to power their own purposes. Souls extracted above a Sculk Catalyst are converted into more Sculk, and a new Sculk Cauldron block can store souls for later crafting. Soul Sand can also be turned into other soul-related materials through vanilla-like recipes.

Installation needs no dependencies. Both the server and each player must run it, since it is a client and server mod. Soul Siphon is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt across 8 release versions, 1.19.4 – 1.21.1, and the code is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only. The latest files target 1.21.1 and date from 2024-11-23.

Key features

  1. Soul extraction

A modified Pointed Dripstone pulls souls out of soul-block prisons, freeing them for the player.

  2. Sculk conversion

Souls extracted above a Sculk Catalyst convert into additional Sculk growth.

  3. Sculk Cauldron storage

A new Sculk Cauldron block stores souls so they can be used in crafting later.

  4. Soul Sand recipes

Soul Sand can be processed into other soul-related items through crafting recipes that resemble vanilla ones.

Use cases

Soul prison runs

Players exploring soul-block prisons can free captured souls or harvest them for crafting.

Sculk farming

Players who want more Sculk can route extracted souls through a Sculk Catalyst.

Who it’s for: Players who want soul-based crafting and Sculk growth in a Magic-focused world. Server owners who run the mod need every player to install it as well.

How it compares

Full comparison

SoulGuard is a Fabric mod for 1.19.3 – 1.21.1, released under the CC0 1.0 Universal license and server-side only, so players join without installing it. Soul Siphon instead needs both client and server, so every player must run it. Enhanced Soul Speed is server-side only for Fabric and Forge across 1.20.2 – 1.21.10 under the MIT License, and it does not add souls extraction or Sculk mechanics.

What the author says

By using the Soul Siphon (a modified Pointed Dripstone) the player can free souls trapped in their soul-block prisons. While some may wish to simply free the souls, others will harness them for their own purposes. If the souls are extracted above a Sculk Catalyst, its life-force will be converted into more Sculk. If…
