SoulGuard

by VoidLock

SoulGuard keeps a dead player's XP and place of death in soul particles, and lets players reclaim them through configurable access rules.

FabricServer-side onlyCC0 1.0 UniversalOpen source1.19.3 – 1.21.1

What it does

On death, the mod stores a configurable share of the player's experience and leaves the souls as floating particles at the place of death. Players can then choose which souls to collect, and unclaimed souls despawn after a set time. Admins can inspect and remove souls through commands, and several settings control how much XP is kept and who may teleport to a soul.

SoulGuard is a Fabric mod that runs on the server alone, so players join without installing anything. Its design is a rework of the Dead Souls mod with some changes and extra features, and the original project is linked from its public pages. Files target 1.19.3 – 1.21.1, and the latest Fabric file is 1.0.0-1.21 for 1.21.1, published on 2024-08-20.

The mod is released under the CC0 1.0 Universal license, which places the code in the public domain, and its source code, issue tracker and wiki are public.
