Sodium Core Shader Support
by linusdev
Resourcepacks can replace Sodium's core shaders through Sodium Core Shader Support, a client-side addition for Fabric and NeoForge that Sodium users can turn on for compatible packs.
What it does
Vanilla lets resourcepacks swap its core shaders. This mod extends that ability to the shaders Sodium uses, so a pack written for it can supply its own versions. Packs that do not declare support for this mod will not gain Sodium support simply because the mod is installed.
The mod adds defines to Sodium's block layer opaque shaders for three terrain types: solid blocks, cutout blocks such as leaves, grass and glass, and translucent blocks such as water, honey and slime. A define named SODIUM CORE SHADER SUPPORT is present in all shaders, so pack authors can branch their code on it. Compatibility is declared in a versions.json file with a supported-versions map that links Minecraft versions to allowed Sodium versions.
Sodium is an optional dependency. The source code and issue tracker are public, and the code is under the Apache License 2.0, so the project is open source. Files are published for Fabric and NeoForge across 18 release versions, 1.20.4 – 26.1.2, first released on 2023-12-09.

Use cases
Pack authors
Authors can write one pack that changes how Sodium draws terrain, branching on the defines for each render pass.
Who it’s for: Resourcepack authors who want their shaders to work with Sodium, and players who run Sodium and use such packs.
