Smooth Scrolling

by SmajloSlovakian

With Smooth Scrolling installed, scrolling in chat, the hotbar, the creative inventory and the server, world and resource pack lists moves with eased animation instead of jumping.

What it does

The mod adds smooth scrolling to several screens, including chat, the hotbar, the creative inventory and the server, world and resource pack lists. Each animation speed can be adjusted in the config file, and a settings screen reached from the game's menu offers the same options. After editing the config file in a world, pressing F3+T reloads resources so the new values apply.

The mod is a client-side only addition and needs nothing on the server. It is available for Fabric and Quilt across 23 release versions, 1.20 – 26.3, with snapshot builds also published. The code is under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, so the mod is open source, with public source code and an issue tracker. It can run on NeoForge through a compatibility connector, and the author has no plans for a native NeoForge build; the first launch may report it as incompatible, which can be ignored by restarting Minecraft.

Key features

  1. Scrolling in chat

Chat messages scroll with an eased animation rather than jumping by fixed steps.

  2. Hotbar and creative inventory

The hotbar and creative inventory scroll smoothly, so long item lists are easier to follow.

  3. Server, world and resource pack lists

The server, world and resource pack selection lists also gain smooth scrolling.

  4. Adjustable animation speeds

Each animation speed can be changed in the config file or from the settings screen in the game's menu.
