Slime Origin

by angelcube

Slime Origin adds a Slime origin to Origins, a Fabric mod that lets a player choose a slime-based character at the start of a world.

FabricClient and serverGNU General Public License v3.0 onlyOpen source1.21.1

What it does

The origin turns a player into a slime-themed character. A slime heritage gives a better jump, with a lower cost for leaping and a reduced movement speed. Bounce blocks, which are slime blocks, launch a player back up when they land on them.

The trade-offs are part of the origin. A slime shrinks to half size, and other players or entities can kill it in two hits instead of one. Hot weather and sun-exposed hot biomes make it burn, so the origin works better in cool and shaded areas. A slime skin adds a matching look to the character.

Installation needs Fabric API and Origins, and Slime Origin is built on a mod by Jack Sibley with the same name. The code is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, and it is published for 1.21.1 only. Both the server and every player need the mod, since it runs on client and server.

Key features

  1. Slime heritage

The slime origin improves leaping and lowers movement speed, so jumping costs less and walking is slower.

  2. Bounce blocks

Slime blocks launch a player upward on landing, which helps with travel across terrain.

  3. Half size and double lives

The character shrinks to half size and can die twice per life, reflecting its fragile build.

  4. Heat weakness

Sun exposure in hot biomes and hot weather makes the slime burn, limiting where it can stay.

Who it’s for: Players who want a jumping, bouncing character in an Origins world. Server owners who run Origins also need to install the mod on the server side.
