Sleeping Overhaul 2

by CosmicDan

Sleeping Overhaul 2 changes how sleeping works, replacing the skip-to-day behavior with a timelapse that lets time pass while a player stays in bed.

ForgeNeoForgeClient and serverGNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 onlyOpen source1.18.2 – 1.21.1

What it does

Instead of jumping straight to morning, the timelapse advances the clock gradually, so the night passes on screen. A player can wake early by pressing Escape and choosing the Leave Bed button, which stays visible during the timelapse. Sleep is optional: a player can rest in a bed without sleeping at all. The mod also removes several restrictions on when a bed can be used, and allows beds to be used in the Nether.

The mod covers everything tied to sleep rather than one setting. Its author lists a fix correction and other changes in version 2.1.0, and the code has been reorganized into a mixin structure with a JSON listing. Architectury API is required on every loader, so it must be installed next to the mod. The author recommends trying Lithium, NeoForge Canary or Forge performance mods on servers, and the FAQ troubleshooting section covers performance tips.

Key features

  1. Timelapse instead of skip

Night passes as a visible timelapse rather than an instant jump to morning.

  2. Optional sleep

Players can rest in a bed without sleeping, and leave the bed early from the Escape menu.

  3. Bed use restrictions removed

Several limits on when beds can be used are lifted, and beds work in the Nether.

  4. Fixes in version 2.1.0

The 2.1.0 release includes a fix correction and other changes to sleep handling.
