Sleep Timelapse

by IslandAggravating

Sleep Timelapse speeds up the night once players sleep, so the clock moves faster while the world keeps its vanilla feel.

FabricQuiltServer-side onlyCC0 1.0 Universal1.20.4 – 1.21.4

What it does

When players sleep, Sleep Timelapse accelerates the passage of night, and the speed-up also applies to movement, mining and swimming so actions keep pace with the faster environment. Unlike timelapse mods that only change the clock, it synchronizes gameplay elements with the accelerated time. Server owners can optionally skip the night entirely once a player is asleep, a choice that fits busy worlds and modest hardware.

The mod is server-side only, so players join without installing anything. It requires Fabric Language Kotlin and is published for Fabric and Quilt, with files covering 1.20.4 – 1.21.4. The code is not open source; the content is released under CC0 1.0 Universal, and the first file was published on 2025-03-24.

Key features

  1. Smoother night skipping

Sleeping starts a faster night that keeps the usual vanilla feel, with a timelapse that shows the sky changing.

  2. Synchronized acceleration

Movement, mining and swimming speed up with the clock, so the world does not feel out of step during the timelapse.

  3. Configurable curve

Acceleration curve, maximum speed and mid-point are set in the Sleep Timelapse.yaml file, which applies to the server.

  4. Optional full skip

Servers can skip the night entirely once a player is sleeping, a choice aimed at busy multiplayer worlds.

Use cases

Busy multiplayer servers

Server owners who want nights to pass quickly for everyone can enable the full skip and keep the timelapse for single players.

Lower-end machines

Skipping the night entirely reduces the time spent in a long night, which helps on hardware that struggles with the normal cycle.

Who it’s for: Server owners running Fabric or Quilt who want faster nights, and players on those servers who prefer a timelapse to a fixed day cycle.
