Skill Tree

by JammingDino

With Skill Tree installed, players spend collected Experience Points on a radial menu of permanent passive abilities that persist after death.

FabricClient and serverApache License 2.0Open source1.20

What it does

Skill Tree replaces the usual use of experience levels with a skill progression system. Players craft a Skill Altar and right-click it to open a circular skill tree, then spend raw Experience Points on abilities. Skills already taken stay in place after death, and higher tiers of the tree need stronger Altars.

The mod covers attribute boosts such as maximum health, movement speed and attack damage, along with faster mining, faster swimming and walking quickly over lava, and changes to knockback that can push enemies away or pull them in. Costs are calculated from raw points, which lets server owners tune balance. Skill Tree needs Fabric API and oωo (owo-lib) to run, and it is published for Fabric only on 1.20.

Key features

  1. Radial skill tree

A circular, visually interactive interface lays out the skills so players can navigate the tree quickly.

  2. Tiered Skill Altars

Altars are crafted from Iron, Diamond, Emerald and Obsidian, and each tier opens access to more advanced skills.

  3. Permanent progression

Skills taken from the tree remain with the player after death, so the progress carries on through a world.

  4. Attribute and movement boosts

Skills raise maximum health, movement speed and attack damage, and add faster mining and quicker movement through water and lava.

  5. Combat knockback control

Players can use negative knockback to push enemies further away or pull them toward them with a hit.

What the author says

Turn your Experience into Permanent Power. Skill Tree (by JammingDino) completely overhauls how you view Experience Points in Minecraft. Instead of hoarding levels only to lose them in a lava pit, use them to unlock permanent passive abilities, stat boosts, and unique game-changing mechanics.
