SimpleWaypoints gives players client-side waypoints for marking places in the world while they explore, travel or build.

FabricClient-side onlyGNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or laterOpen source1.21.6 – 1.21.8

What it does

SimpleWaypoints is a Fabric mod that provides simple waypoints. Because the feature runs entirely on the client, a player can use it in single-player or on a multiplayer server without the server needing to install anything. Only the player's own installation holds the waypoint data it creates.

Installation requires Fabric Loader. The mod is published for Fabric alone, with files for 1.21.6, 1.21.7 and 1.21.8 across three release versions, and the latest file, 1.0.0-alpha.1, targets 1.21.8 on the alpha channel. Its library dependency, BetterConfig, is bundled inside the mod, so no separate install is needed.

The project is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or later, and its source code and issue tracker are public. The first file was published and last updated on 2025-08-13.

Key features

  1. Client-side waypoints

Waypoints are stored and shown on the player's own client, so they affect only the installation that created them.

  2. Simple placement

Players can add a waypoint at a chosen location and see it marked as they move through the world.

  3. Bundled configuration

BetterConfig is packaged inside the mod, so its configuration support is available without a second install.

Use cases

Exploration

A player marks points of interest while exploring a large world and returns to them later.

Multiplayer play

Each player who installs the mod keeps a personal set of markers, without changing what the server runs.

Who it’s for: Players who want personal waypoints on Fabric for 1.21.8 and nearby versions. Server owners do not need to install it, since the environment is client-side only.
