Simple Ore Vein Miner

by Aeshea Mods

Simple Ore Vein Miner lets a player break one ore block with a pickaxe and have the connected ore of the same type mined with it, toggled by a hotkey.

FabricClient and serverMIT License1.21.4 – 26.2

What it does

When vein mining is enabled, mining a single ore block with a pickaxe also removes the ore blocks of the same type that touch it. Vanilla ores and deepslate ore variants are supported. Pressing the V key switches the function on and off, and with it off, breaking blocks works as it does in the base game. A safety limit caps a single vein at 64 blocks, which keeps large veins from causing lag.

Hotkey input is read on the player's side, while the vein itself is removed by the server, so the mod works in single-player worlds and on multiplayer servers. Both the server and every player need it, because it has to be installed on both sides. The mod requires Fabric API and is published for Fabric only, with builds across 6 release versions, 1.21.4 – 26.2, under the MIT License. It is not open source.

Key features

  1. Hotkey toggle

The V key turns vein mining on or off, so a player can break single blocks when needed.

  2. Connected ore mining

Ore blocks of the same type that touch the mined block are removed along with it.

  3. Deepslate variants

Vanilla ores and their deepslate variants are both covered by the vein mining.

  4. 64-block limit

Each vein is capped at 64 blocks to prevent long mining chains from slowing the game.

Use cases

Mining in single-player

A solo player can clear an ore vein in one action instead of breaking each block by hand.

Multiplayer servers

Server owners install the mod on the server and on every client, and the hotkey toggle works on each player's side.

Who it’s for: Players who dig for ore often in survival worlds and server owners who want the same ore mining on a multiplayer server.

How it compares

Manic Miner is open source under the MIT License, with files for 1.21 – 26.3, and its server needs it while clients may skip it. King's Vein Miner is server-side only, open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, and covers 1.21.4 – 26.1.2. Simple Ore Vein Miner needs both sides and is not open source. Silana (Vein Miner) also runs on client and server under the MIT License, but for 1.21.10 – 26.3.

Questions

Does Simple Ore Vein Miner need Fabric API?

Yes. Fabric API is listed as a required dependency and must be installed next to the mod on Fabric.

Does the server need the mod for vein mining to work?

Yes. The environment is client and server, so the vein is removed by the server while the hotkey is read on the player's side, and both need the mod.

Which game versions are supported?

Files cover 1.21.4, 1.21.11, 26.1, 26.1.1, 26.1.2 and 26.2, with 1.0.4 for 26.2 as the latest Fabric file.

What the author says

Simple Ore Vein Miner is a lightweight Fabric mod that lets players toggle ore vein mining on and off with a hotkey. When enabled, mining one ore block with a pickaxe will automatically mine connected ore blocks of the same type. When disabled, mining works normally.
