Simple Client Base

by KSmc's Team

Simple Client Base is a NeoForge library for building client-side module and command systems, released for Minecraft 1.21.

What it does

The mod supplies a framework on which other client-side tools can be built. It bundles a command system and a module system, and the modules are the units that extension mods hook into. Because the framework stays on the player's side, a server running vanilla or other server-side content needs nothing from it.

The framework grew out of a remastered NeoForge port of an earlier client tool, and its changes to that original are kept in the open. Its source is public on GitHub, with a public issue tracker and wiki, and the code is released under the MIT License. The current NeoForge build is version 1.4 for 1.21, published on 2024-11-30, which is also the only game version listed for it.

Simple Client Base is the foundation for the other Simple Client mods, so an installation that adds one of them usually starts with this library. It runs on a client alone, and single-player and multiplayer clients can both load it.

Key features

  1. Command system

Commands are registered through the framework, so a client-side mod can add its own commands with the same structure.

  2. Module system

Features are grouped as modules that can be enabled and managed, forming the core structure for extensions.

  3. Alt account manager

An AltManager screen, opened from a button at the top right of the title screen, lists accounts for launching the game.

  4. Offline accounts

Custom offline accounts can be added, including a button that creates ten random alt accounts at once.

  5. Account editing

Accounts already added can be removed or edited from the list with the Remove and Edit buttons beside each entry.

Use cases

Who it’s for: The mod suits developers building client-side Simple Client extensions and players who want the bundled account manager. Server owners do not need it installed, since the environment is client-side only.

How it compares

Full comparison

PermissionManager is a NeoForge mod for 1.21.1 that must run on both client and server and is not open source, so it covers a different job from this library. MiniFabricAPI is a NeoForge mod for 26.1 – 26.1.2 that is open source under the Apache License 2.0, and it works on either side, and neither side needs it. Unnamed Framework runs on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt for 1.21 – 1.21.1, requires both client and server, and is not open source.
