Show Keybinds
by SJKZ1
Show Keybinds displays the key bound to each hotbar and inventory slot, so the item shown in a slot can be matched to its shortcut key.
What it does
Each slot in the hotbar and the inventory can show the keyboard key that selects it, drawn over the item. The displayed key follows the controls set in the game options, so a changed binding appears on screen without any further setup. Players who rebind keys can check the mapping directly in play rather than opening the controls menu.
The item count drawn on a stack can also be restyled, with its color and text size set in the mod configuration. The mod runs on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, and it requires Architectury API and Cloth Config API on every loader. Mod Menu is optional and gives access to the configuration screen from the mods list.
Builds cover 14 release versions from 1.19 onward, and the open source code is under the MIT License. Public links exist for the source code and the issue tracker.
Key features
Hotbar key labels
Each hotbar slot shows the key that selects it, so the active shortcut is visible while playing.
Inventory key labels
Inventory slots can show their bound key too, which helps when moving items between slots.
Custom count color
The color of the stack count on items can be changed to fit a texture pack or personal preference.
Custom count size
The size of the stack count text is adjustable, keeping numbers readable at different scales.

Use cases
Learning custom controls
Players who rebind a lot of keys can read the current mapping directly from the hotbar and inventory.
Streaming and tutorials
Viewers can see which key selects each slot, which helps when a creator explains a control scheme.
Who it’s for: Players who rebind keys, or who follow tutorials built around specific shortcuts, will find the labels useful. The mod is client-side, so server owners do not need to install it.
How it compares
Origins Extra Keybinds is a Forge, Fabric and NeoForge mod for the same span of builds under the MIT License, but it is not open source and adds extra keybind actions rather than slot labels. Scroll Bindings is open source under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 or later, works only on Fabric and covers 1.21.11 – 26.1.2, so it fits a narrower set of builds.
