Seeker Compass
by SmellyModder
Seeker Compass lets a player point a compass at living entities, track them across distance, and teleport tracked pets or summonables, with enchantments that cost durability.
What it does
The mod adds a compass that tracks living entities remotely and shows their block position, biome and the block or entity they stand in or on. Tracked entities are not removed when they would otherwise despawn. The compass keeps the chunks of tracked entities loaded, so a target can be followed over long distances, though a target in an unloaded dimension is shown as not alive until it is reloaded. Right-clicking with the compass can teleport tracked pets, summonables and entities carrying a configured entity tag to the user, for a small durability cost.
The compass has 1200 durability, which lasts about 20 minutes of continuous tracking before it breaks, and it can be repaired with Magma Cream at an anvil. Compass enchantments cost durability and bypass Unbreaking. Zombie Piglins have a small chance to spawn while a Seeker Compass is held in the offhand, and the compass can be found in Nether Fortress hallway chests and Bastion Treasure chests. The chances and other settings are configurable, and the mod is configurable with a datapack.
Seeker Compass is published for Forge and NeoForge, for 1.20.1, and needs both the server and every player to run it. Its source code, issue tracker and wiki are public, but the mod is licensed under a custom license and is not open source.
