Seasons API
by kochkaev
Seasons API is a Fabric library that lets other mods define their own seasons, weather patterns and challenges tied to the in-game calendar.
What it does
Seasons API provides the framework for creating custom seasons. A mod using it can declare which weather applies during a given period of the year, which conditions hold at a certain time of day, and which challenges are active for the current season. Rules can then limit what a player may do depending on the season and the weather in effect.
The library is built for mod authors who want season-driven gameplay rather than for players to use directly. It runs on Fabric for Minecraft 1.21 – 1.21.5, with files for 1.21, 1.21.1 and 1.21.5 and the latest build 1.2-BETA-6 for 1.21.5 published on 2025-05-04 on the beta channel. Fabric API and Text Placeholder API are required, and Cloth Config API and Mod Menu are optional. Either side can run it, and neither needs it, and the code is open source under the Apache License 2.0. Seasons Challenges depends on it.
Key features
Custom seasons
Define seasons of a mod's own, each with its own weather and period within the year.
Weather tied to the calendar
Weather can be set to follow a given period of the year, so the same conditions return each season.
Time-of-day conditions
Conditions can depend on the current time of day, such as weather that applies only at night.
Season-based rules
Rules restrict player actions according to the active season and the weather at the time.
Custom challenges
Challenges can be attached to seasons, giving a dependent mod a way to build seasonal goals.

Use cases
Who it’s for: Mod authors building seasonal content, and modpack makers who want the calendar to drive gameplay. Players usually meet the library through a mod that depends on it.
How it compares
TerraLib is a Fabric library for 1.21.1 under the MIT License, with client and server as its environment, and it is not open source. Challenges is server-side only, open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, and covers 1.21.1 – 26.2, so it is a server option rather than a shared framework for seasons. Seva ya Utils is also server-side only for 1.21.4, but it is released under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license and is not open source.

What the author says
Seasons API was developed for creating your own seasons, weathers and challenges! This mod was developed by analogy with the Spigot plugin "Seasons" specifically for the private Minecraft server "Zixa City" by its administrator (kochkaev, aka kleverdi). The idea of this mod was taken from Harieo.
