Scripted Vision

by DeM0RG

Map builders who want cinematic presentation can use Scripted Vision, a NeoForge mod for 1.21.1 that adds commands for cameras, screen fades, flashes and text prompts.

NeoForgeClient and serverMIT License1.21.1

What it does

Scripted Vision gives map builders commands for scripted presentation. Cinematic cameras can sit at fixed coordinates and face a chosen direction or a selected entity. Target cameras track an entity, Follow mode keeps a delayed view along its movement trail, and Direct mode snaps the view to the current target position. Zoom, cinema bars, full-screen fades and quick colored flashes complete the set, and a text prompt can be shown over the screen.

The commands suit cutscenes, horror maps, story-driven servers, minigames and interactive arenas, where they help direct a player's attention. Commands can target a player selector or a provided target, and they apply to every online player when run from a console or command block. Each targeted mob has to match a single entity, and respawning entities are easier to manage when tagged with a selector limit.

The mod is built for NeoForge and published only for 1.21.1, under the MIT License, and it is not open source. It is a client and server mod, so the server and every player need it. Files were first published on 2026-07-07, the latest NeoForge file is 1.0-hotfix from 2026-07-11, and the author describes the project as in active development, with more cinematic features planned.

Key features

  1. Cinematic camera placement

Cameras can be placed at fixed coordinates and pointed in a chosen direction or at a selected entity.

  2. Entity tracking

Target cameras follow an entity, while Follow mode trails its movement for a smooth, delayed effect.

  3. Screen fades and flashes

A fade cycle runs the screen out to a selected color and back, and a quick colored flash can be triggered.

  4. On-screen prompts and bars

Text prompts appear over the screen, and cinema bars add a letterbox look for a cutscene feel.
