Sack of Sating

by lightyorugami

Sack of Sating is a Forge utility item that keeps a player continuously well-fed by drawing food from the inventory.

ForgeClient and serverMIT License1.20.1 – 1.20.2

What it does

The sack, a standalone revival of the Sack Sating item from Alex's Caves, is crafted with a new recipe and carries a reimagined visual design for survival worlds. While carried, it automatically feeds the player from food stored elsewhere in the inventory, so hunger is topped up without manual eating. Holding a food item over the inventory or simply having food in the inventory is enough to activate the sack's state.

Feeding works by absorbing the hunger value of consumed food, and the sack charges as it does so. The sack shows three visual states through texture changes in-game, so its fullness and activity can be read at a glance. Item restrictions limit which foods the sack accepts. Client and server share the mod, and it is published for Forge only, for 1.20.1 and 1.20.2, with 2.3.1 for 1.20.2 as the latest file, released under the MIT License. The code is not open source.

Key features

  1. Automatic feeding

The sack keeps the carrying player well-fed by consuming food from the rest of the inventory when hunger drops.

  2. Charging sack

Consumed food charges the sack, which reflects its state through three texture-based visual stages.

  3. Mouth open state

The sack's appearance changes while a food item is held over the inventory or food is present in it.

  4. Item restrictions

Only certain foods are accepted by the sack, limiting what it can absorb.

Use cases

Long survival trips

A player who travels far from home can carry the sack so hunger stays managed without stopping to eat.

Crafted progression

The new crafting recipe lets players reach the sack through survival play rather than finding it in a dungeon.

Who it’s for: Players who want automatic food management in survival worlds, and server owners running Forge 1.20.1 or 1.20.2 who want a food utility that clients and the server both load.
