by lightyorugami

Just A Sculk Vial is a Forge item mod for Minecraft 1.20.1 that adds a single vial for storing and reclaiming experience points.

ForgeClient and serverAll rights reserved1.20.1

What it does

The vial stores experience points up to the equivalent of level 30, which is 1395 XP. Holding Shift and right-clicking puts the player's current experience into the vial, and right-clicking again returns the stored amount at once. The vial's texture changes with the amount it holds, and its tooltip shows the stored XP along with a hint to press F3 and H for extra usage information.

The mod was built around survival play, where a player can secure experience before a dangerous fight or hand it to another player in a safe way. It is a lightweight standalone mod that adds one item and needs no GUI libraries. The vial is listed under storage, equipment, utility and magic, and the author notes that its mechanics were adapted from Jet's Better Exploration and its visual assets come from the Sculk Vial data pack.

Only the Forge loader is supported. Files exist for Minecraft 1.20.1 only, and the latest file is 1.0.0, published on 2025-05-29. The mod runs on client and server, so both the server and every player need it, and it is released under All rights reserved, so it is not open source.

Use cases

Securing experience before danger

A player can store accumulated XP before a risky encounter so a loss in combat does not erase it.

Transferring experience between players

The vial lets one player hand experience points to another in a controlled way.

Who it’s for: Survival players who want a single, controlled way to keep experience points safe, and server owners who want a light item mod without extra GUI dependencies.
