Updated Witch Drops

by lightyorugami

Updated Witch Drops changes the loot that witches leave behind when they die, adding Redstone, Sugar, Gunpowder, Glass Bottle and Stick to the drop table.

FabricForgeServer-side onlyMIT License1.20 – 1.20.6

What it does

Witches killed in the game drop between two and four items, and the Looting enchantment raises how many they leave. Redstone always drops, in amounts from four to eight, with up to three extra from Looting. A witch drop table of one to three random items is added on top, covering Sugar, Gunpowder, Glass Bottle and Stick, each rolled from zero to two. Stick is weighted to appear about twice as often as the other entries.

The mod is published under the MIT License, though it is not open source. Environment is server-side only: players join without installing it, and only the server needs the mod. Fabric builds need no separate library, so the file can be dropped into the server mods folder as is.

Key features

  1. Redstone drop

Witches drop Redstone in amounts from four to eight, with up to three more from the Looting enchantment.

  2. Random witch loot

One to three extra entries are rolled from Sugar, Gunpowder, Glass Bottle and Stick, each giving zero to two items.

  3. Weighted stick drops

Stick is picked about twice as often as the other random entries, so it appears more regularly in witch loot.

  4. Looting scaling

Witch drops grow with the Looting enchantment, so a higher level yields more items from each kill.

Use cases

Redstone farms

Players running witch farms for redstone get a steady source, since Redstone drops on every kill.

Server economies

Server owners who want a different witch loot table can run the mod on the server alone.

Who it’s for: Server owners and players who run witch farms on the 1.20 line and want a wider witch drop table. Since only the server needs the mod, players on vanilla clients can join.

How it compares

Questions

Does Updated Witch Drops need to be installed on the client?

No. It runs on the server alone, so players need nothing extra to join.

Which loaders does Updated Witch Drops support?

Fabric and Forge. Builds cover 1.20 – 1.20.6, with 1.2.0 for 1.20.6 as the latest file on both loaders.

Does the mod change witch drops in every 1.20 release?

It applies to each build 1.20 – 1.20.6, so a server on any of those seven versions can use it.

What the author says

This mod simply adds the updated witch drops introduced in Minecraft 1.21 to versions 1.20 through 1.20.6. When a witch is killed, it will now drop between 2 and 4 items, all of which benefit from the Looting enchantment.
