Rug is a Fabric server-side mod for Carpet-based servers that lets server owners set rule behavior through a small rule set for Carpet's own rule system.
What it does
Rug works alongside gnembon's Carpet Mod and extends it with additional rules that server administrators can switch on or off. Because it only runs on the server, players connect without installing anything, and only the server operator needs to manage the rule configuration.
Rug depends on Better Runtime Resource Pack (BRRP) and Carpet, and both must be present on the server for it to load. The mod is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, and its source code and issue tracker are public. Files are published for Fabric only, across eleven release versions 1.19.1 – 1.21.1, with 1.6.1+1.21.1 as the latest build for 1.21.1.

How it compares
Carpet Addons Not Found runs on the server alone, so players join without installing it, and it is open source under the MIT License, covering 1.17.1 – 1.21.11 on Fabric. Carpet Extra is also a server-only mod and is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, with files for 1.14.4 – 26.2. REMS-Carpet-Addition is not open source: it is released under a custom license, works on either side with neither required, and covers 1.19.4 – 26.3.
