ResourcePack to Mod Lib (RPtMLib)
by Kirosya
RPtMLib is a Fabric and Quilt library that turns resource packs into mods, so packaged assets ship inside the JAR instead of loose folders.
What it does
Built-in resource packs are registered through the registerBuiltinResourcePack API, which lets a mod carry its assets internally. The library handles the loading, so a generated mod needs RPtMLib installed beside it. The RPtM Converter, a separate tool, produces those mods from a resource pack file.
RPtMLib is a lightweight utility that bundles several resource packs into a single mod. It is built for game versions 1.20 and later and is client-side only, so servers need nothing. Mod Menu is an optional dependency that adds a configuration screen for the library.
The project is open source under the MIT License and is published for Fabric and Quilt across 22 release versions, 1.20 – 26.1.2. Its source code and issue tracker are public. Run's GUI is one of the mods that requires this library.
Key features
Internal asset loading
Assets packaged into the mod JAR load from inside the file, with no separate resource folders to manage.
Automatic detection
Resource packs bundled through the library are detected at startup and enabled without manual steps.
Multiple packs in one mod
Several resource packs can be combined into a single mod file, reducing the number of files a player installs.
Converter tool
The RPtM Converter turns an uploaded resource pack into a mod that depends on RPtMLib.
Lightweight design
The library avoids heavy dependencies to keep its footprint small and limit performance costs.

Use cases
Distributing a texture pack as a mod
A pack author can ship a resource pack as a mod that loads like any other, instead of asking players to place files in a folder.
Bundling packs for a modpack
A modpack maker can combine several packs into one mod file to simplify installation.
Who it’s for: Mod authors who want to package resource packs as mods, and players who prefer installing packs through the mod loader rather than the resource pack menu.
How it compares
Simple Resource Loader is a Fabric and Quilt library that is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, and it can run on either side for 1.21 – 26.3. Resource Library covers Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt for 1.20 – 26.3 under the MIT License, with both client and server required. RPtMLib is client-side only and limited to Fabric and Quilt.
