Kroko's Realistic Utilities

by Kroko

Kroko's Realistic Utilities is a Forge game mechanics mod that changes how some everyday actions affect the player, such as falling, walking on farmland and taking damage from certain plants.

ForgeClient and serverApache License 2.01.7.10 – 1.15.2

What it does

The mod adds small realistic rules to survival play. Footprints are listed among the features the author wants to add, and the current build already includes a few rules that change how the player takes damage and moves. Feather Fall IV prevents fall damage, strawberry bushes hurt a player who wears armor, and walking on farmland without boots can trample it, with rules that begin at versions 3.3, 3.0 and 2.0. The author notes that the mod is a personal project built for a modpack, and that feature requests from the community are answered as time allows.

The mod runs on the client and the server, so both sides need it for its rules to apply consistently. The configuration file can turn individual features on or off since version 3.1. The mod is released under the Apache License 2.0, and it is not open source. Files exist for Forge across five release versions, 1.7.10, 1.12.2, 1.14.4, 1.15.1 and 1.15.2, with 4.1.3 for 1.15.2 as the latest file, published 2023-11-28.

Key features

  1. Fall damage prevention

Feather Fall IV blocks fall damage, so a player can drop from height without losing health.

  2. Strawberry bush damage

Strawberry bushes deal damage to a player wearing armor, a rule the author added in version 3.0.

  3. Farmland protection

Walking on farmland without boots can trample it, and leather or chain boots protect the soil.
