Randomized Items
by mattias15
Randomized Items gives players a random item from the full item registry at set intervals, including items added by other mods and creative-only items such as Bedrock.
What it does
On a server running the mod, each player receives a random item at regular intervals, and the number of items handed out per round can be set. The pool covers every item in the registry, so vanilla items, items from installed mods and creative items are all possible. Because the outcome is unpredictable, the mod keeps survival and minigame sessions from settling into a routine.
The timing is adjusted with the setinterval command, so a server can make drops frequent, spaced out, or rare. Compatibility with other mods comes from reading their custom items into the same random pool. The mod is for Forge and runs on the client and server, so both the server and every player need it. Builds cover 1.20.1 – 1.21.1, and the latest file, 1.0.0 for 1.21.1, was published on 2024-08-20.
Key features
Random item distribution
Rather than drawing from a fixed loot table, each player is given one item chosen at random from the full item registry.
Set amount per round
The number of random items given out each time can be fixed, so the rate of surprises stays predictable for administrators.
Customizable timing
The setinterval command sets how often players receive items, from every few seconds to only occasionally.
Other mods' items included
Custom items added by other mods join the random pool, so the drops reach beyond vanilla content.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.
Only full game releases are shown. This mod publishes no snapshot builds.
Use cases
Minigame rounds
A server can run timed rounds where every participant gets surprise items, keeping each session different.
Survival variety
Players on a long-running world get unexpected gear and blocks, which changes how they plan a run.
Who it’s for: Server owners running minigames or survival servers with mixed modpacks, and players who enjoy unpredictable item drops.
How it compares
Random Items Mod is also a Forge mod for client and server, open source under the MIT License, with files for 1.20.4. Random Height is open source under the MIT License and also Forge client and server, for 1.20.1, but it changes terrain height rather than handing out items. Randomized Recipes is for 1.20.1 – 1.20.6, is not open source and is licensed as All rights reserved, so it differs from this mod in license and version range.
