Randomized Blocks

by mattias15

Randomized Blocks replaces the drops of ordinary blocks with random items, including items from other installed mods, so breaking a block can yield something unexpected.

FabricForgeNeoForgeClient and serverAll rights reserved1.20.1 – 1.21.1

What it does

When a player breaks a block, Randomized Blocks gives a random drop in place of the usual one. The pool is built from vanilla items and from custom items added by other mods, so a stone block may return a modded item. A server operator can run the randomizeblocks command to reroll which drop each block gives.

The mod is aimed at minigames, casual play and social servers where a shared, unpredictable gameplay loop is the point. It runs with both client and server, so the server and every player need the mod. Builds are published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge for 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, and the code is licensed as All rights reserved.

Mod compatibility is part of its design: the random drop pool draws on items that other mods register, so installed content gets mixed into the drops. Only operators can run the reroll command, which keeps the randomization in the hands of server administrators.

Key features

  1. Random block drops

Breaking a block gives a random item from the drop pool instead of the block's normal drop.

  2. Modded items in the pool

Items added by other installed mods can appear as drops, alongside vanilla items.

  3. Reroll command

The randomizeblocks command reassigns block drops, and only operators can use it.

  4. Unpredictable gameplay

Each broken block can yield a different item, which keeps routine mining from feeling predictable.

Use cases

Server minigames

Operators can run randomized mining rounds where every player gets surprising loot from the same blocks.

Modpack testing

Installed custom items show up in the drop pool, so mixed item sets can be tried quickly in play.

Who it’s for: Server owners who run minigames or social events, and players who want mining that changes from one session to the next.
