Random Drops From Blocks (RDFB)
by KaiMinTsung
Random Drops From Blocks replaces the usual loot from broken blocks with a random surprise, which can be a block, a tool, a food item, junk, or a mob.
What it does
When a player breaks a block, the mod rolls a random result from a pool that covers blocks, tools, swords, food, miscellaneous junk and entities such as surprise creepers. The outcome is not tied to the block that was broken, so a piece of dirt can yield a sword or a mob. Players who expect a predictable harvest will not get one from this mod, which is intended for a deliberately chaotic gameplay style.
The mod runs on Fabric for Minecraft 1.21 – 1.21.11, with files for twelve release versions. Its latest Fabric file, 1.0.0, targets 1.21.11 and was released on 2026-04-17. It requires Fabric API, and it is server-side only, so players join without installing it. The code is released under the MIT License and is not open source.
Key features
Random block drops
Breaking a block produces a random result from the pool instead of the block's normal drop.
Random items and tools
The pool includes swords, food and assorted junk items, so a broken block can hand over an unrelated tool.
Random entities
Some rolls spawn an entity at the broken block's position, such as a surprise creeper.
Unrelated results
Results are not linked to the block type, so stone, grass and dirt can all produce the same range of outcomes.

Use cases
Chaos challenge runs
Players who want to test their adaptability can play a survival world where every block breaks into a surprise.
Comedy servers
Server owners can run a themed world where random drops keep the mining routine unpredictable for the whole group.
Who it’s for: Server owners and players who want a chaotic twist on mining. Because the mod changes drops for everyone, it suits worlds where unpredictable results are the point rather than a loot system to optimize.
