Radio lets players broadcast sound across the world on configurable frequencies using transmitters, receivers and handheld units.

FabricClient and serverAll rights reserved1.21.11

What it does

A Radio Transmitter broadcasts microphone audio, or the music of nearby jukeboxes, over a frequency chosen between 88.0 and 108.0 MHz. A Radio Receiver plays incoming transmissions out loud, and a Portable Radio does the same from the player's hand. Signal strength depends on how closely the receiver's frequency lines up with the transmitter's and on the distance between them.

Transmitters need lightning rods stacked above them to reach full range, and each additional antenna improves the signal. The mod works with Simple Voice Chat for broadcasting and with AudioPlayer for custom music discs, which Audio Player Support can route through the radio. Radio requires AudioPlayer, Fabric API, SGL (Super GUI Lib) and Simple Voice Chat. The server and every player need the mod installed. Builds exist only for Fabric, for 1.21.11, released under All rights reserved, so the code is not open source.

Key features

  1. Radio transmitters

Transmitters broadcast microphone audio or nearby jukebox music over a chosen frequency.

  2. Receivers and portable radios

Fixed receivers and handheld radios play transmissions aloud at the player's location.

  3. Frequency alignment

The 88.0 – 108.0 MHz band is configurable, and signal quality depends on how well frequencies match.

  4. Antenna range

Lightning rods stacked above a transmitter are required, and more antennas extend the signal.

Questions

Does Radio need Simple Voice Chat?

Yes. Simple Voice Chat is required for broadcasting, alongside AudioPlayer, Fabric API and SGL (Super GUI Lib).

Does the server need Radio installed?

Yes. Every player and the server need a copy of the mod.

Why does a transmitter reach so little distance without antennas?

Transmitters need lightning rods stacked above them, and more antennas improve the signal and extend the range.
