Preserved: Inferno

by Team Preserved

Preserved: Inferno changes survival balance across weapons, armor, enchantments, food, ore generation and progression, and it is meant to be played knowingly.

What it does

Inferno anchors the Preserved mod set and focuses on the survival side of Minecraft. It lowers the power of most armor, tools and weapons, weakens enchantments and reduces the saturation that consumables restore. Ore generation is altered as well, and more intermediate steps are inserted into progression, so advancing takes longer than in vanilla. The author describes the changes as a route toward a more demanding survival experience.

The mod requires Fabric API and runs on client and server, so both the server and every player need it installed. It is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only and is open source. Files cover 1.21.7, 1.21.8, 1.21.10, 1.21.11, 26.1, 26.1.1, 26.1.2 and 26.2, and the latest Fabric build is beta-1.6.2 for 26.2, marked on the beta channel. Source code and an issue tracker are publicly linked.

Key features

  1. Lowered combat power

Most armor, tools and weapons deal or absorb less than in vanilla, so fights require more care.

  2. Weakened enchantments

Enchantments are heavily reworked and reduce the overall strength a player can build up.

  3. Reduced food saturation

Consumable food items restore less saturation, which changes how often players need to eat.

  4. Slower progression

Ore generation is changed and extra crafting steps are added, lengthening the path from early to late game.
