Torrential
Torrential changes how the fishing rod works, adding fishing hooks, lines and sinkers that each alter the rod's stats, plus an angling table for swapping them.
What it does
Torrential extends the vanilla fishing system with new mechanics that give fishing more depth. Fishing hooks raise the rod's fishing speed so a player can catch fish at a higher rate. Fishing lines raise the rod's fortune, which lets one cast collect several non-treasure drops. Sinkers raise the rod's luck, making treasure drops appear more often. Parts are attached in an angling table, which can also remove them, and a new tooltip shows the durability of each part on the rod.
Other effects come from the rod's mining speed, which stacks with Haste, and from riptide use outside water. Rods carry extra durability, and the catalog description names unlimited water breathing, night vision underwater and a conduit-style power effect among the rewards. The rod itself needs upkeep: the author text says its parts must be maintained so the rod stays usable. Torrential is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, and Fabric API is required on Fabric.
The mod is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, so the source code is open. Files cover 1.21 – 26.3 across seven release versions: 1.21, 1.21.1, 26.1, 26.1.1, 26.1.2, 26.2 and 26.3. The latest file for every loader is 1.1.0 for 26.3, dated 2026-10-13.

How it compares
Fish Traps is a Fabric mod for 1.21.10 – 26.3 that is open source under the MIT License and runs on client and server. Torrential covers the full 1.21 – 26.3 range on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only.
