Power Vanilla: Realism
by SolKomed
Power Vanilla: Realism replaces the fixed durability and instant smelting of Minecraft with a harsher survival progression for Fabric.
What it does
Tools in Power Vanilla: Realism no longer have a fixed durability value. Each tool's strength fluctuates, so a piece of gear may break earlier or last longer than expected, based on pure unpredictability. Campfires stop being infinite heat sources: a campfire burns down its fuel, and its flame shrinks gradually until it goes out completely. The standard Furnace is locked at first, so smelting follows a fixed path through tiers, starting with the campfire for primitive cooking and heating, then a brick furnace, and finally the standard furnace.
The mod is described by its author as an immersive hardcore survival expansion that rebalances Minecraft's progression and resource gathering. It is meant for a realistic, unforgiving world in which the choice of tool matters. It is a Fabric mod with files for 26.1.2 and 26.2, and it requires Alternations Lib, Fabric API, Fabric Language Kotlin and Power Vanilla. A server running it needs every connecting player to have it too. The code is all rights reserved and is not open source.
Key features
Fluctuating tool strength
Tools have no static durability; their strength varies with each use and a tool can break early or last longer.
Fuel-dependent campfires
A campfire burns through its fuel, and its flame size decreases until it goes out.
Locked standard furnace
The vanilla furnace cannot be crafted immediately and is reached only after earlier smelting tiers.
Staged smelting path
Resources move through a campfire, a brick furnace and a standard furnace, in that order.

Use cases
Who it’s for: Players who want a realistic, unforgiving survival experience on Fabric 26.1.2 or 26.2, and server owners who run a hardcore progression.
How it compares
Trees Make Sound is a Fabric mod for 1.21 – 1.21.4 under the Apache License 2.0, not open source, and it only adds sounds, so it does not change tools or smelting. Campfire XP is server-side only and open source under CC0 1.0 Universal, covering 1.19 – 26.2, and it adds experience from campfires rather than limiting their fuel. Furnace Damage is server required and client optional under GPL v3.0 only, with files for 26.2 – 26.3 on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, so it reaches more loaders but targets furnaces differently.
