Potion Cocktails

by CrazyBenji

Potion Cocktails lets players combine normal potions with amethyst shards to craft a new potion type that gives its effect for half the time.

What it does

The mod adds a potion type that is crafted from ordinary potions and amethyst shards. Once made, the cocktail gives its effect for half the time a normal potion would, and a single drink is consumed in half the usual time. Stacks of these cocktails hold up to 16 items, which keeps a supply of them compact in storage.

The mod is aimed at food-themed play, such as hosting dinner parties, where a player wants a drink that is ready to serve. It requires Fabric API on every loader, and it runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it. Files are published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge for 1.21.1, with 1.20.1 also covered. The code and assets are under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license, and the mod is not open source. Public links exist for the source code and the issue tracker.

Key features

  1. New potion type

A cocktail potion type is crafted from normal potions and amethyst shards, adding a new entry to the potion options.

  2. Half-time effects

The cocktail gives its effect for half the duration of a standard potion.

  3. Half-time drinking

Drinking a cocktail takes half the usual time, so the potion can be used more quickly during play.

  4. Stack size of 16

Cocktails stack up to 16 per slot, so a supply takes up less inventory space.
