PotatoCannon

by GSV

PotatoCannon lets players fire farm produce from a bazooka-style launcher, with four ammo types that each change what a hit does.

What it does

The mod adds a potato launcher modeled in 3D and held in third person. It is aimed at players who want to turn crops into a heavy weapon that still fits the vanilla style. The cannon detects which ammo is in the inventory and picks the matching type by a fixed priority order, so the player does not have to switch manually. Each shot has a cooldown and loses durability, which keeps the weapon balanced for survival play.

Ammo is the main part of the design. Standard rounds deal one heart of impact damage. Other types include high-velocity shots that deal about 3.5 hearts with little drop, long-range precision rounds, and poisonous potatoes that inflict poison for four seconds and weaken enemies. An explosive round is also included. Shots leave smoke trails and make thump sounds, and the Spud Gunner advancement is granted when the cannon is crafted.

PotatoCannon needs Fabric API and is published only for Fabric, for Minecraft 1.20.1. A server running it needs every connecting player to have it too. The code is not open source and is released under All rights reserved.

Key features

  1. Three-dimensional launcher

A bazooka-style launcher with a custom 3D model, shown from the first and third person views.

  2. Four ammo types

Standard, high-velocity, precision and poisonous potato rounds, plus an explosive option, each with its own effect.

  3. Automatic ammo selection

The cannon picks the ammo type from the inventory using a priority order, so no manual switching is needed.

  4. Cooldown and durability

Each shot has a cooldown and the launcher wears down with use, limiting how often it can fire.

Thump sounds, smoke trails and a sparkling trail on some rounds accompany each shot.

  6. Spud Gunner advancement

An advancement is granted when the cannon is crafted.
