Gravestones
by Pneumono
Players who die leave a Gravestone block behind that holds their items, and right-clicking it returns them to their original positions, a feature of Gravestones by Pneumono.
What it does
On death, the mod places a block that stores the player's items, and interacting with it returns them to the inventory slots they came from. The design follows the vanilla look, with textures that match the base game, and most behavior can be tuned in the config file, including settings meant to suit a specific server.
Gravestones decay by default, both over time and after subsequent deaths, which shows up as a visible change in the block texture. Once the configured amount of decay is reached, the block breaks and spills its contents onto the ground, where the vanilla five-minute despawn timer then applies. The mod requires Fabric API and PneumonoCore, and the environment is client and server, so servers and every player need it. Files are published for Fabric and Quilt, with builds for 1.20 – 26.2 and 1.4.2+26.2+A as the latest file, first released on 2023-12-22 and updated 2026-07-27. The code is open source under the MIT License.

Use cases
Survival servers
Server owners can adjust decay, experience storage and access rules to match the rules of their world.
Builds with graves
The block can be placed in builds as decoration, using its vanilla-style textures.
Who it’s for: Survival players who want their items recoverable after death, and server owners who need to tune how graves behave for their community.
How it compares
Simple Graves is client and server, open source under the CC0 1.0 Universal license, and runs on Fabric for 1.21.5. Gravestone ZT runs on Fabric and NeoForge for 26.2 – 26.3 and is not open source, so it fits a newer version range than this mod's. Tils Graves is a server-required mod for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt covering 1.21 – 1.21.10 under a non-commercial Creative Commons license, meaning clients may omit it.

What the author says
Gravestones adds blocks which store your items on death. You just right-click, and your items will go back to their original positions. It's a fairly standard grave mod, but with nicer, vanilla-style textures, extra config options to help tailor the mod to specific servers, and the option to use gravestones in builds.
