Piercing Paxels ⚒️
Piercing Paxels is a tool mod for Fabric, Forge and Quilt that combines several tool types into one multi-tool called a paxel, and it can be upgraded to change how it breaks blocks.
What it does
A paxel is made from one normal tool plus other materials, and it works as a single tool that can break blocks, chop wood and dig. Its durability is shared across the combined tool types. When a paxel reaches zero durability it does not break; it becomes unusable until it is repaired. Upgrades can be applied to a paxel to enhance its abilities without needing enchantments, and different upgrade recipes are listed in the mod.
The mod is client and server, so the server and every player need it. Installing it requires Architectury API on every loader, and Fabric API on Fabric. Builds are published for Fabric, Forge and Quilt across 8 release versions, 1.18 – 1.20.1, and the code is under All rights reserved, so it is not open source. Public links exist for the source code, the issue tracker and a wiki.

Combined multi-tools
A paxel joins several tool types into one item, so a single slot covers mining, chopping and digging.
Upgrade slots
A paxel is opened from the inventory, and upgrades are placed into particular slots with a shift right-click.
Area breaking
Holding right click breaks blocks in an area in front of the player, and the shape of that area depends on the installed ability upgrade.
Auto-smelt and vacuum
Auto-smelt cooks a block as it is broken, and vacuum sends dropped items directly into the inventory.
Silence upgrade
Silence muffles sounds made by the tool and by nearby creatures, including Sculk creatures.
