Photography

by BlouFlin

Photography, a Fabric mod by BlouFlin, lets players take photos of the world with a camera item and keep them as photograph items.

FabricClient or server, optionalMIT LicenseOpen source1.20.5 – 1.21.1

What it does

A camera opens a viewfinder when used with a right-click. A second right-click takes the photo, the mouse wheel zooms, and the Escape key closes the viewfinder. Taking a photo consumes photographic paper from the inventory and gives the player a photograph. Two items are needed for each photo, and both are craftable through the mod's recipes.

The mod uses a client renderer, so players can take photos while using shaders. Photography requires Fabric API on Fabric. Either side can run it and neither needs it. Vanilla clients can still join a server running the mod, see the photos and the items they show, and keep those photos when the mod is gone. Files are published for 1.20.5 – 1.21.1 under the MIT License, and the source code is open.

Key features

  1. Camera viewfinder

Right-clicking the camera opens a viewfinder, and a mouse wheel adjusts zoom before the photo is taken.

  2. Photographic paper

Each photo consumes photographic paper from the inventory, and the result is a photograph item.

  3. Crafted items

The camera, paper and related items are added with crafting recipes.

  4. Photos persist

Photographs and the vanilla items shown in them stay in a world even after uninstalling the mod.
