Peripheral

by Sl0oth_

Peripheral is a Fabric client mod that lets players control Minecraft with Python scripts, which can automate tasks, build HUDs and create custom GUIs.

FabricClient-side onlyMIT LicenseOpen source1.21 – 26.1.2

What it does

Scripts run in the background, and several can start, stop and run independently of each other. Scripts can read live game data, control the player, build custom GUIs and render overlays, all without touching Java. A script folder is dropped into the game directory, then run and watched from the in-game interface.

The mod opens a small local interface inside the game on port 25585 and adds a helper module called mc that scripts import. That interface only accepts connections from the same machine and never reaches out to a remote host. The mod is released under the MIT License and is open source, with its source code and issue tracker public. It requires no extra dependencies beyond Fabric, and works in singleplayer, multiplayer and Realms. Files exist for 1.21 – 26.1.2, and the latest Fabric file is 1.1.0 for 26.1.2, released on 2026-04-27 on the beta channel.

Key features

  1. Script runner

Scripts run in parallel, start and stop individually, and can be triggered from the in-game GUI.

  2. Text and labels

Labels can show text with color and shadow, placed anywhere on screen.

  3. Progress bars

Bars can show progress for health, durability, experience or any other value a script reads.

  4. Panels and item sprites

Rectangles serve as background panels with an optional border, and item sprites draw Minecraft item icons by ID.

  5. Anchored positioning

Elements anchor to a screen corner or the center and scale with the resolution.

Questions

Does Peripheral need to be installed on the server?

No. The mod is client-side only, so no server installation is needed and it works in singleplayer, multiplayer and Realms.

Can scripts access the internet?

The local interface only accepts connections from the same machine. Some example scripts send outbound HTTP requests to third-party APIs, but this happens only when a script is explicitly run, and its endpoints are visible in the script source.
