Ouchies - Injuries mod
by toasterpanic
Ouchies is a Forge game mechanics mod by toasterpanic that adds bleeding, bone breaking and infections to player injuries.
What it does
Injuries in Ouchies go beyond health loss. A hit can break a bone, and a wound starts bleeding, dealing damage over time until it is treated. Infections can develop from a bleeding wound and need disinfecting, otherwise the effects worsen. Blood particles appear when a mob is hit, and mobs can take bone damage as well.
The mod is built around gamerules, so a server owner can switch individual features off and tone down the difficulty. The author notes that the default settings are demanding, and that the difficulty can be lowered in later updates. Changes to the 1.1.0 line added infection bleeding. Ouchies requires nothing beyond Forge, and it runs on client and server, so both the server and every player need it. Files are published for Forge across five game versions, and the code is under All rights reserved, so it is not open source.
Key features
Bleeding system
Wounds bleed and deal damage over time, so a player has to treat them before the bleeding stops.
Bone breaking
Hits can break bones, which adds an injury type beyond ordinary health loss.
Infections
A bleeding wound can become infected, and disinfecting it is needed to avoid worsening effects.
Gamerule options
Features can be disabled individually through gamerules, so the difficulty can be lowered to suit a world.

What the author says
While this mod is customizeable through gamerules, this is still made to be a realistic and difficult mod on default settings. I'm not going to tone down the default difficulty (unless it's obviously flawed), but I am willing to add gamerules for more things. Thank you! Ouchies is a realistic injury mod, made to be…
