Open Parties and Claims

by thexaero

Open Parties and Claims lets players claim world chunks, forceload them and organize into parties, with server owners setting limits and permissions for each feature.

FabricForgeNeoForgeQuiltServer required, client optionalGNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 onlyOpen source1.18.2 – 26.3

What it does

Chunk claims are owned by individual players by default. The owner can grant exceptions to party members and to groups they set up. Server owners can also switch on party-owned claims, and the mod offers a claim moderator mode that shows the player owners of party claims. Forceloading and claim anchors are controlled through the same permission system.

The mod exposes an API so other mods and plugins can read and change parties and chunk claims on both the server and the client. It integrates with Xaero's mapping mods, which should be updated to their latest versions. Required dependencies are Fabric API and Forge Config API Port. Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt builds cover 1.18.2 – 26.3, and server installation is required while client installation is optional. Its license is GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, and it is open source.

Key features

  1. Chunk claims and forceloads

Players claim chunks and forceload them, with limits set per player in the main config.

  2. Parties and player groups

Players form parties and custom groups that can be used for protection exceptions in each claim.

  3. Server claims

A permission lets non-OP players create server claims and turn on server claim mode.

  4. Permission-based limits

Claim limits, group spacing and anchor range can be overridden per player with permission nodes.

  5. Pluggable permission and party systems

Several common permission APIs are supported, along with Argonauts for parties, and the default system can be disabled in the config.

Use Server Name is a Fabric and Quilt mod for 1.20 – 1.21.9, published under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only and open source. Either side can run it, and a client without it is still fine. way2wayfabric is a client-side only Fabric mod for 1.19 – 1.20.4, under the MIT License and open source. Open Parties and Claims, by contrast, needs to be on the server and covers Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt.

Questions

Does Open Parties and Claims need Fabric API?

Yes. On Fabric, Fabric API is a required dependency, and Forge Config API Port is required on Forge and other loaders that use it.

Does the server need the mod installed?

Yes. Server installation is required and client installation is optional, so players can join without the mod while the server must run it.

Can server owners give party-owned claims instead of player-owned ones?

Yes. Party-owned claims can be turned on by the server owner, and the claim moderator mode lets permitted players see who owns each party claim.

Which mods depend on Open Parties and Claims?

21 catalog mods require it, for example Open Parties and Claims PvP Support, (Legacy) Create Support for Open Parties and Claims and JourneyPAC.
