What it does

Opal ore can be mined with the mod's tools, and the drops behave like real opal gems. The mod implements five new ore and tool types. Opal ore generates in desert and badlands biomes, so players search those regions for it. Two opal upgrades are crafted from eight opal gems using a trim template, and a netherite tool or armor piece placed on a smithing table can turn opal into an upgrade.

A Gem Trader Stall can be crafted and placed, and a villager nearby is converted into a Gem Trader, who buys and sells opals.

The mod runs on Forge and NeoForge for 1.20.1, and the environment is client and server, so the server and every player need it. Just Enough Items (JEI) is an optional dependency that shows the recipes added by the mod. The code is covered by All rights reserved, so the mod is not open source. The first file was published on 2024-10-18 and the latest was updated on 2024-10-19.

Key features

  1. Five ore and tool types

The mod adds five new types of ore and the tools needed to harvest them, extending the equipment available in 1.20.1.

  2. Desert and badlands ore

Opal ore generates in desert-type biomes, including badlands, so opal is found away from the usual caves and mountains.

  3. Opal upgrades

Eight opal gems and a trim template craft two opal upgrades, and netherite pieces on a smithing table convert opal into them.

  4. Five opal rings

Five rings, each made from one opal type and three gold ingots, grant speed, slow falling, fire resistance, jump boost or strength while worn.
