Ominous Bottle Backport brings the Ominous Bottle item from later Minecraft releases to Fabric for 1.20.1, letting players drink a bottle to gain the Bad Omen effect.
What it does
Drinking an Ominous Bottle gives the Bad Omen effect, which is the trigger for a raid in a village. The bottle is meant for players who want to start a raid on purpose and the mod adds it to the 1.20.1 item set. Raid captains drop the bottle when killed, so a bottle can come from a raid rather than from crafting alone.
The bottle is craftable from eight emeralds and a glass bottle placed in the middle of the recipe. A brewing upgrade tier also appears in the brewing process, so players can produce a stronger version after the basic one. The item is part of the mod's own data and does not change how villages or raid spawns work beyond the effect itself.
The mod runs on the client and on the server, so the server and every player need it. It is published for Fabric only, with a single file, 1.0.0 for 1.20.1, released on 2025-06-24. The code is released under All rights reserved, so it is not open source. The author lists an issue tracker for bug reports.
