NuggetsExtended

by Multiverse

NuggetsExtended adds smaller refined forms of six materials, from diamond and copper to redstone, for a more detailed smelting system on Forge 1.20.1.

ForgeClient and serverCreative Commons Attribution Non Commercial No Derivatives 4.01.20.1

What it does

Six nugget types are added: diamond, copper, emerald, lapis lazuli and redstone, each made by smelting a matching item. Smelting a diamond yields a diamond nugget, and the nuggets can be smelted back into the full diamond, so the material is never lost. The same round trip works for copper ingots, emeralds, lapis lazuli and redstone dust.

Nuggets cannot be used in crafting recipes. They serve only as an intermediate step between smelting and crafting the full ingot or gem, which keeps the vanilla balance of the game intact. The mod is built for Forge and runs on the client and server, so both sides need it. It is published only for 1.20.1, with the 1.0.0 file dated 2025-02-24, and it is not open source, since its Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial No Derivatives 4.0 license forbids derivative works.

Key features

  1. Diamond nuggets

Diamonds smelt into nuggets, and the nuggets smelt back into a full diamond.

  2. Copper nuggets

Turned copper ingots smelt into copper nuggets, which can be converted back to ingots.

  3. Emerald and lapis nuggets

Emeralds and condensed lapis lazuli each have a smaller form that smelts back into the full item.

  4. Redstone nuggets

Refined redstone pieces become nuggets, which smelt back into full redstone dust.

Use cases

Who it’s for: Players looking for a finer resource refining process, while server owners who prefer to leave the vanilla crafting balance unchanged, both fit this mod.

How it compares

Full comparison

Lapis Lazuli Harmony is a Forge 1.20.1 mod that covers lapis lazuli, licensed under All rights reserved and not open source, so it is a narrower choice than NuggetsExtended. Experience Plus is also Forge 1.20.1, client and server, but it is licensed under the MIT License and is not open source; it changes experience rather than refining materials. Chicken Nuggets shares the Forge 1.20.1 target and the client and server environment, but it is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution Share Alike 4.0 and adds food rather than smelting nuggets.
