CraftsExpanded+

by Multiverse

CraftsExpanded+ adds more than 31 recipes that the vanilla game lacks, aimed at survival players who want crafting to feel more logical.

FabricForgeNeoForgeClient and serverCreative Commons Attribution Non Commercial No Derivatives 4.01.18.2 – 1.21.4

What it does

Among the new recipes are craftable Tridents, a way to smelt Rotten Flesh into Leather, and craftable Horse Armor and Saddles, so players no longer have to search dungeon chests for those items. Rotten Flesh from drowned mobs gains a practical use, which keeps hunting them worthwhile.

The additions are meant to stay in line with the existing balance of the game rather than replace it. Servers that run it need every player to install it too. Builds are published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 1.18.2 – 1.21.4, with 1.2.0 as the latest file for each loader, and the code is under the Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial No Derivatives 4.0 license, so it is not open source.

Key features

  1. Craftable Tridents

Tridents can be crafted at a crafting table, so they no longer depend on finding one in the world.

  2. Leather from Rotten Flesh

Rotten Flesh can be smelted into Leather, giving a use for the flesh that drowned mobs drop.

  3. Horse armor and saddles

Horse Armor and Saddles become craftable, so mounts can be equipped without loot from dungeon chests.

  4. Additional recipes

Over 31 recipes extend vanilla crafting, filling gaps the base game leaves for survival progression.

Use cases

Early survival

Players who would otherwise search dungeon chests for saddles or armor can craft them directly.

Drowned hunting

Rotten Flesh from drowned mobs has a smelting recipe, which makes hunting them useful beyond the flesh alone.

Who it’s for: Survival players and server owners who want more crafting options without changing the core balance of the game.

How it compares

Full comparison

Rotten Flesh To Leather is a Fabric-only mod for 1.16 – 1.18.1 under a custom license, and it covers only the leather recipe. Craftable Horse Armor is server-required, with client optional, for 1.20 – 1.21.1 across Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, under All rights reserved. Both are narrower in scope than this mod's set of recipes.

Questions

Does CraftsExpanded+ need to be on the server?

Yes. A server running it needs every connecting player to have it too.

Which loaders and versions are supported?

Fabric, Forge and NeoForge are supported across 1.18.2 – 1.21.4, and the latest 1.2.0 file exists for 1.20.1 on Fabric and Forge and for 1.21.4 on NeoForge.

Can the recipes be changed or removed?

The author text does not describe configuration options, so the Modrinth page does not confirm any.
