VintageFix is a Forge optimization mod for 1.12.2 under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or later, and either side can run it, so it is optional on a client or a server. BlahajASM is a Forge mod for 1.12.2 under the GNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 only, and both the server and every player need it.
