Nodex
by Frostzie
Nodex is an in-game text editor for Minecraft datapack files, opened from inside the game rather than from an outside program.
What it does
Players and map makers can edit datapack files from a built-in editor screen. Files can be opened, saved and edited, and they are organized in a file tree with a project manager that groups universal folders for datapacks and configs. The code editor highlights JSON syntax and supports AtlantaFX themes for its colors.
The mod is aimed at datapack development, with in-game tools meant to speed up small edits and debugging. Its stated goal is to offer basic coding functions in a style close to Visual Studio Code, and it includes a multiplayer side for working on a datapack collaboratively. The project is in alpha and under active development, so many features are implemented while others are still in progress.
Nodex requires Fabric API and Fabric Language Kotlin and is published for Fabric only. The mod runs on the client alone, so servers do not need it. Its code is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 or later, and it has public links for the source code and an issue tracker. Files cover 1.20.5 – 26.1.2, and the latest build targets 26.1.2.

Use cases
Quick datapack fixes
A map maker can correct a function or recipe file in the game and test it right away.
Shared datapack projects
A team can edit one datapack together in a multiplayer session instead of passing files around.
Who it’s for: Datapack authors and map makers who want to edit JSON and function files in the game, and players who follow alpha builds of an in-game coding tool.
How it compares
Simple Item Editor is client-side only, open source under the MIT License, and covers 1.20.1 – 26.3 on Fabric; it edits items rather than datapack files. Datapack Error Viewer is open source under the MIT License and runs on client and server, so the server and every player must install it; it covers 1.21 – 26.3 on Fabric and shows datapack errors instead of editing them.
