No Scaffolding Down

No Scaffolding Down changes how scaffolding behaves when a player moves downward through it, limiting the descent to deliberate input.

What it does

Descending scaffolding works only while the player looks down, so stepping onto a scaffold below no longer drops the player through it by accident. Crossing a scaffolding line horizontally is unaffected. The mod is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, across 23 release versions 1.20.1 – 26.3, and is released under the MIT License, so the code is open source. Only the client needs it, so servers can run without it while players who install it get the behavior.

Key features

  1. Look-down descent

    Scaffolding can only be passed downward while the player is looking down, which prevents falls caused by walking across it.

  2. Unchanged sneaking

    Normal sneaking behavior stays the same, so players still crouch on scaffolding as in vanilla.

  3. Horizontal movement kept

    Moving sideways across scaffolding behaves as before, with only the downward drop changed.
