Netherite TNT Drops

by gheetm

Netherite TNT Drops changes how Ancient Debris reacts to TNT explosions, so that the ore drops its item like other blocks instead of being destroyed.

FabricServer-side onlyMIT License1.21.1 – 1.21.11

What it does

In vanilla Minecraft, an explosion that reaches Ancient Debris destroys it and leaves nothing behind, which forces hand mining of the block after large blasts. This mod removes that restriction: Ancient Debris caught in a TNT explosion breaks and drops its item itself, the same way other ores do when blown up. Mining Netherite through TNT becomes a fast route to the material, and the change applies to the explosion only, leaving hand and pickaxe mining untouched.

The mod runs on the server alone, so players join without installing anything. It is a single-purpose change rather than a gameplay overhaul, and it is aimed at survival worlds, multiplayer servers and modpacks where TNT mining is already used. Files are published for Fabric only, and the latest build, 1.0.0, covers 1.21.1 – 1.21.11. The code is released under the MIT License and is not open source.

Key features

  1. Ancient Debris drops from TNT

Ancient Debris caught in a TNT explosion breaks and drops its item, as other ores do.

  2. Fast Netherite search

Blasting Ancient Debris with TNT gives an alternative to slower hand mining after large explosions.

  3. Single narrow change

The mod changes only the explosion result for Ancient Debris and adds no new items, blocks or systems.

  4. Vanilla behaviour elsewhere

Hand and pickaxe mining of Ancient Debris keeps its normal results, so the mod does not alter drops from other sources.

Questions

Does the server need Fabric API or other dependencies?

No required dependency is listed for Fabric. The mod targets Fabric and runs on the server alone.

Do players need to install the mod?

No. Players join without it, since only the server has to run the mod.

Which game versions does Netherite TNT Drops support?

Files exist for 1.21.1 – 1.21.11, the latest being 1.0.0 for 1.21.11.

Does the mod change hand mining of Ancient Debris?

No. Only explosions from TNT are changed, so mining by hand or with a pickaxe keeps vanilla results.

What the author says

Vanilla Minecraft prevents Ancient Debris from being destroyed by TNT, forcing players to mine every block by hand after large explosions. When Ancient Debris is caught in a TNT explosion, it now breaks and drops itself just like any other ore, making TNT mining a fast and satisfying way to search for Netherite.
