Name History lets a player look up the past usernames of any Minecraft account from a chat command, with tab completion for online players.
What it does
Name History runs on the client alone, so only the player installing it needs the mod. It adds chat commands that query a player's previous names, and the lookup accepts either a username or a UUID, detecting which one was typed. Results are cached, and the cache duration can be set in the configuration, so repeated queries return without a new request.
The configuration screen can be opened through Mod Menu, where colors can be customized and the theme changed to match other interface styles, with a grid layout and a live preview as colors are picked. Pressing Tab after the command completes the names of online players. The lookups use an API the author hosts, and the mod works with the endpoints that API implements.
Files target Fabric only, 1.21.1 – 26.2, with the latest file 0.2.0+26.2 for 26.2 published on 2026-06-17. It requires Fabric API and Fabric Language Kotlin. Mod Menu is optional. Name History is open source under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 or later, and its source code and issue tracker are public.

A player who sees an unfamiliar name in chat can look up the names that account used before.

Who it’s for: Players who want to check the past usernames of an account from inside the game. Because the mod is client-side only, server owners do not need to install it.
How it compares
Player Search is also client-side only and open source under the MIT License, but it targets 1.20 – 1.21.1 and does not cover the same range of game versions as Name History.
