Music Sync
by boyonk
With Music Sync installed, every player on a server hears the same background track, chosen by the server from the current biome, dimension and situation.
What it does
The server picks a music type for the moment, either from the biome and dimension a player is in or from a random pick among the online players, and sends it to all of them at once. Dragon fight and credits music take priority over everything else, so those moments are never skipped. The server waits until every player has finished the current track and the delay between tracks has passed before the next one starts.
Resource pack support covers players who add their own custom Minecraft music, so the mod can use those tracks in the sync. Music Sync is published for Fabric only, with Fabric API required, and runs on client and server. It covers game versions 1.16 – 1.21.9 across 31 release versions, with 1.4-beta.1+1.21.9 for 1.21.9 as the latest file on the beta channel. The code is not open source and is licensed as All rights reserved, with public links for the source code and issue tracker.
Key features
Server-driven track sync
The server sends one music type to every online player, so the whole group hears the same track.
Biome and dimension requests
Music types can be requested for a location, and the choice depends on the biome, the dimension and other conditions.
Random type selection
A music type can be picked at random from the players online, with dragon fight and credits taking priority.
Playback waits for listeners
The next track starts only after every player has finished listening and the configured delay has passed.
Custom music from resource packs
Tracks added through resource packs can be used in the sync.

Use cases
Multiplayer servers
Server owners can keep the whole group on one soundtrack, with music tied to where players are.
Shared dragon fights
Priority playback keeps the dragon fight and credits music playing for every player at the same moment.
Who it’s for: Server owners who want a shared soundtrack and players who join those servers. Single-player players can run it as well, since the environment is client and server.
How it compares
Music Together is server required with the client optional, under the MIT License, and covers 1.21.1 – 26.2 for Fabric, so it is not open source. Music Control is client-side only, open source under the MIT License and published for 1.18 – 1.21.9, which means it does not sync music across players. Keep That Music is also client-side only, open source under the CC0 1.0 Universal license and covers 1.16 – 26.2.
