Music Machine

by misikon

Music Machine gives players a configuration menu for the background music that Minecraft plays during play, letting them weight, mute or disable individual tracks.

What it does

Players can turn single tracks off or set a weight slider for each one, which raises or lowers how often that track is chosen. Someone who keeps hearing the same song while building can push the others forward, or mute the background music entirely. Pacing can be set to the standard vanilla gaps, shortened so music plays more frequently, or made nearly continuous with almost no pause between tracks.

Music Machine can also limit playback to tracks composed by C418, which suits anyone who wants only the classic soundtrack. Installation needs Fabric API on Fabric. The mod is client-side only, so only the player's own game needs it and servers can run without it. It is released for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across seven release versions, and the source code is public under the MIT License.

Key features

  1. Per-track toggles

Each ambient track can be switched off, and a disabled track stays off until the player turns it back on.

  2. Weight sliders

A weight slider for each track adjusts how often it is chosen, so favorite songs can be heard more.

  3. Pacing options

Delays between tracks can follow vanilla, be shortened, or be reduced to near-continuous looping.

  4. C418-only playback

A filter restricts background music to tracks composed by C418 and leaves other music out.

  5. In-game configuration menu

All of these settings are changed through a menu inside the game, without editing files by hand.
