Music Events

by xelotex

Music Events is a Fabric, Forge and NeoForge mod that replaces background music with event-driven tracks chosen from in-game conditions.

FabricForgeNeoForgeClient and serverAll rights reserved1.20.1 – 1.21.1

What it does

Music Events adds an event-based music engine. Each event decides when a track plays, using contextual conditions such as dimension, biome and game state. Events carry priorities, so a higher-priority event can override a track that is already playing at runtime. The mod can change both vanilla music and custom music, which allows ambient tracks, combat themes and other context-specific audio.

Configuration is handled mainly through an in-game GUI with an Events tab. A player creates an event, assigns its priority, defines required parameters such as a resource name or a set like minecraft:overworld, and then links a track through the Register Audio procedure. Custom files are placed as .ogg files in an Audios folder, which can be opened from the GUI and organized into subfolders. Saving and reloading applies the changes. Only the .ogg format is supported.

Music Events is published for 1.20.1 and 1.21.1 and runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it. Its code is not open source, and the mod is released under All rights reserved.

Key features

  1. Event-based music engine

Tracks start and stop according to conditions evaluated before each playback, with priorities that decide which event wins.

  2. In-game configuration GUI

Events, parameters and registered audio are edited from a dedicated screen, with search by internal file name.

  3. Custom audio folders

Custom .ogg files can be dropped into subfolders of the Audios directory and registered without editing configuration files.

  4. Built-in debug screen

An overlay opened with F4 shows which parameters are active and how the mod calculates the current track.

  5. Console commands

A set of commands under the musicevents base command controls the state machine and plays audio directly.
